SunHawk is realized by the combination of Passive and Active Solar energy for Solar energy pioneer John Schaeffer (Sun) and partner Nancy Henseley (Red-tailed Hawk). This 100% off the grid house also uses hydronic solar feeding a radient heated floor for the winter time, and a passive cooling tube system to effectively cool the interior during sweltering 110 degree summer days.

SunHawk combines a mythical stained glass piece symbolizing the sky, with it's projected image flying through the dwelling and aligning with it's earth image: a slate design piece by Fran Segal imbedded in the floor to mark the equinoxes and winter solstice.

Solar Shading and Passive Cooling keep interior at 72 degrees, while outside it is 110.
